I hope everyone stayed high and dry when Darby hit the islands this past weekend. We had some flooding issues at the restaurant, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Anyway, it’s always good to get rain, because it keep the ‘aina lush and green.

In the meantime, we hope it gets back to sunny skies this week, because we are sticking to the regular farmers market schedule. Here are the Mama Le specials of the week:

BUN MANG VIT — poached duck leg, shiitake, bamboo, mint , rau ram, banana blossom, ong choy, vermicelli noodles, pork & duck broth topped with shallots & ginger fish sauce.

CANH BAU — vietnamese opo squash soup with spare ribs

TOM THIT RIM — caramelized ground pork and shrimp

MAMA LE GRILLED CHICKEN — grilled bbq chicken marinated in mama le’s special marinade with pandan rice, pickled vegetables

GRILLED PORK BELLY BANH MI — grilled pork belly, cabbage, shiso, mint, house pickles

Oh, and since we are highlighting Mama Le’s farmers market specials, do check out this wonderful profile of “the Lady” in the latest issue of Edibles HI. Mahalo to Dania Katz and Mari Taketa for featuring Mama and also Lianne Rozelle for the amazing photos!
